America Goes On - Paul Salvette

Title: America Goes On: A Novella
Author: Paul Salvette

Bio: Paul Salvette is an author who lives in Bangkok, Thailand, with
his wife, Lisa, and newborn daughter, Monica. He grew up in the United
States and served in the Navy from 2002 to 2009, with some time in
Iraq. His day job involves working at a Thai foundation that focuses
on poverty eradication, philanthropy, and education. He hopes to stay
in Thailand until he is deported or dies of natural causes, whichever
comes first.

Description: A young veteran of the Iraq war drives across America
while struggling to find his place in the country he just defended.
Confronted with complacent attitudes and narrow minds, he realizes his
fellow citizens don’t even understand America is at war, let alone
respect his sacrifice. At least he has his fellow Marines from his
second tour of duty, along with a mysterious girl who is waiting for
him on the East Coast. Or so he thinks. Travel with this veteran
through the barren desert of California all the way to New York City
as he learns about modern America, as well as himself. America Goes On
is a 15,000-word (~65-page) novella about the 21st century reality of
war in America.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?
There are not enough good books about the modern veteran experience.
This novella cuts through the ridiculous stereotypes of soldiers,
sailors, marines, and airmen and provides something that readers can
relate to.  It is my hope that this book will be a way to encourage
fellow veterans to write about the difficulties in readjusting to
civilian life in America.

Q: Why did you go indie?

Being an indie author is great for those of us with a DIY ethic,
because all success and failure is entirely dependent upon you. It is
also an excellent opportunity to connect directly with readers rather
than having to go through agents, publicists, publishing houses, and
other intermediaries that can water down you work. By talking directly
to readers as an author, you can get a lot of helpful feedback to
improve your craft.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?

I am really inspired by other veterans who went on to become great
authors (Kurt Vonnegut, Walter M. Miller, and Tim O' Brien to name a
few).

Xenoform - Mike Berry

Bio: Mike Berry was born in the Midlands of England and now lives in Brighton with his partner and two children. When not reading or writing he likes to go on camping trips/apocalypse survival simulations. He describes his main hobbies as 'sinister lounge music, drunken martial arts and arranging words in sequence.' He does not, to date, have a computer chip in his head although he would like to point out that he is 'trying to sort it out.' His recent ebook Xenoform is his first indie release.

Product description: Xenoform is a dark urban sci-fi set in the de-facto corpocracy of City Six. It is a brutal place, rife with crime and drugs. Gangs rule the streets of the Undercity and every private police corps is for sale. In this harsh environment an unprecedented threat is emerging. Whistler and her team of professional abductors start to see a new parasitic organ in the bodies of their victims. Debian, a young cyber-terrorist turned professional hacker, finds a terrifying computer virus in the databanks of an AI-research company. An unknown enemy is attacking the city, altering the populace into nightmarish creatures and decimating computer systems. It seems unstoppable. Can these unlikely heroes find a way to fight it? Or will City Six fall prey to an environmental and technological catastrophe on an unimaginable scale?

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?
A: Because of the subject matter (AI-viruses, computer technology) I think the book is more at home on an electronic format than a physical one. Some readers have enjoyed extracting and  decoding sections of the book written in binary code! Xenoform plays on many themes that might be familiar to the modern urban dweller – gangs, drugs, music, clubs and real people, who don't necessarily fall into either the 'good' or the 'bad' category.

Q: Why did you go indie?
A: It is getting increasingly hard as a new author to be picked up by an agent/publisher and I only have so much time on my hands. I decided that my time would be better spent in actually pushing my book myself than in chasing agents!

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?
A: Jeff Noon, Iain M Banks, Alastair Reynolds. Xenoform on amazon.com

A:  The authenticity of how the national security apparatus really works based on first-hand knowledge.  The memorable and disparate characters and how they change each other's lives.

Fall Girl - Marybeth Smith

Fall Girl, by Marybeth Smith

Bio:

Marybeth Smith is a perpetual perfectionist living out her daily life as an imperfect mother of three little ones. In 2010, she founded the website www.askabipolar.com, where she and a group of authors suffering from bipolar disorder answer reader’s questions about mental illnesses. In her spare time she writes, blogs and designs websites. Fall Girl is her first published novel, and she hopes that one day, through this book and her website; she will be able to help bring an end to the stigma surrounding mental illness. To learn more about Marybeth visit www.marybethsmith.com or www.askabipolar.com. You can contact her via email at marybeth@askabipolar.com.

Product description:

Annabelle has always taken her bipolar brother under her wing, but after years of acting as his personal disaster janitor, she finds herself fighting against her lifelong compulsion to take responsibility for his actions and fix all his mistakes. It's easier said than done, especially when his actions affect her own future.

The struggle between letting her brother deal with his own consequences and fixing just one more thing for him - so she can keep the life she's always known - pushes and pulls at her as each mistake he makes lands her further and further from the future she had planned. In the end, the decision she makes about whether or not to play cleanup crew for his most recent disaster, does not in fact produce the results she expected ... but ... it just so happens, it might not be such a horrible thing after all.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?
Because it gives a unique perspective on mental illness through the eyes of a sibling instead of the person suffering from the disorder.

Q: Why did you go indie?
I’d explored both traditional and indie publishing. After a couple years of reading author and agent blogs, I began to dislike the how things were handled and how authors changed after becoming agented. I was not interested in being tied down by deadlines or publicity rules. I didn’t publish this book for money; I published it to get out the message about how mental illness affects the family and friends of those who suffer from one.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?
Ellen Hopkins, Jay Asher, Sylvia Plathhttp://www.marybethsmith.com/projects/fall-girl

Suckers n Scallies - Kate Rigby

Bio:

I was born near Liverpool and now live in Devon.  I’ve been writing for over thirty years, with a few small successes along the way.

My punk novel, Fall Of The Flamingo Circus was published by Allison & Busby (1990) and by Villard (American hardback 1990).

Skrev Press published my novels Seaview Terrace (2003) Sucka! (2004)(now Suckers n Scallies) and Break Point (2006) and other shorter work has appeared in Skrev’s avant garde magazine Texts’ Bones including a version of her satirical novella Lost The Plot.

Thalidomide Kid was published by Bewrite Books (2007).

Little Guide to Unhip was published by Night Publishing (2010) and a departure from my usual fiction.

I’ve also had other short stories published and shortlisted including Hard Workers and Headboards, first published in The Diva Book of Short Stories and Texts Bones respectively, and now published as part of the Dancing In The Dark erotic anthology, published by Pfoxmoor Publishing (2011).

Other e-books include Down The Tubes, Far Cry From The Turquoise Room and a short story collection, Tales by Kindlelight.

I also received a Southern Arts bursary for my novel Where A Shadow Played.

Product description:

Suckers n Scallies - Loss and loneliness in childhood lead introvert middle-class boy Kit Ramsay into forbidden friendship and taboo territory with Liverpool tough boy, Terry Dacosta. Violence and deprivation in Terry’s childhood, drive him to aspire to a life like Kit’s. Their early experiences in 60s and 70s Liverpool are to have far-reaching effects on their adult lives and relationships.
Previously published in paperback as Sucka!. Now on Kindle.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?

It's scouse, it's gritty, it's retro, it pulls no punches.

Q: Why did you go indie?

The freedom and power to present my book as I would like directly to readers, rather than having to consider what is considered 'marketable' and 'commercial' which in reality means you won't get taken on if your writing is a bit off-beat or outside the box.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?

Adventures in Funeral Crashing - Milda Harris

Bio: Milda Harris is a Chicago girl who is now living the dream in Hollywood. She loves watching movies and playing random sports like dodgeball and kickball. Between working in production on television shows like Hannah Montana and That's So Raven and playing with her super cute dog Licorice, she writes young adult and chick lit novels.

Product description: Adventures in Funeral Crashing is a YA Chick Lit Murder Mystery novel - aka a fun read! Synopsis: Sixteen year old Kait Lenox has a reputation as the weird girl in her high school, mostly because of her ex-best friend turned mean popular girl, Ariel, but maybe it has a little to do with the fact that Kait has a hobby crashing funerals. At one of these, Kait is outted by the most popular guy in school, Ethan Ripley. Yet, instead of humiliating her for all the world to see, he asks for her help, and Kait finds herself entangled in a murder mystery. Not only is the thrill of the mystery exciting, but more importantly Ethan knows her name! A little sleuthing is well worth that!

Q: What will e-readers like about your book? That it's a fun read and they'll love Kait as much as she like peanut butter banana milkshakes...and Ethan Ripley.

Q: Why did you go indie? I've been trying to get an agent/publisher for ages. I've also been trying to make it as a screenwriter and a television writer in Hollywood. It's tough to get published/sold, but I'm not giving up. I love to write. Then six months ago, I heard about Amanda Hocking and thought - it's time to go indie! I can do marketing. Besides, I just want people to read my books - so every single reader is a blessing! If even one person I don't know reads my book and enjoys my story - awesome! That's why I write!

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre? LJ Smith, Christopher Pike, RL Stine, Meg Cabot, JK Rowling, Suzanne Collins, Amanda Hocking

                                    THE UNLIMITED
Q: What will e-readers like about your book?
The Unlimited has a little bit of everything. There's humor, mystery, sci-fi, suspense, action, and a dash of romance. Readers appreciate factual evidence used in a fictitious way to create something believable by bending the truth.
Q: Why did you go indie?
There are a lot of reasons. I really wanted to see what I could do on my own. I feel like getting a big publisher to do all the work for you only pays off if you end up huge (think Stephen King). Going indie allows me to take control. If I succeed, it was because of my hardwork and determination. If I fail, there won't be any excuses. There's no one else to blame.
Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?
Sel Pavlou is amazing at using fact and science in an entertaining way. Matthew Reilly does some fantastic things as well, mixing action with history.

Bio:

Matthew Warner's publishing credits span a variety of formats, including novels, short stories, screenplays, radio, and newspapers. Watch Your Back! - Jillian Brookes-Ward

Bio: I am a  former medicolegal secretary who gave up the 9-5 and moved from the North of England to a pretty village on Royal Deeside, Scotland to concentrate on writing full time. Four novels in, so far, so good. Realising one's dream is very liberating. When I'm not writing I like to walk my dog and indulge in a spot of fly fishing.

Product description:

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?
A: Although the story deals initially with the crime of date rape, its main focus is on the psychological and physical effect revenge and retribution has not only on the recipient, but also on the instigator. Revenge may be a dish best served cold, but it has repercussions for all involved, an aspect often overlooked.

Q: Why did you go indie?
A: My first novel, Saving Nathaniel, a romance, has been published by Night Publishing. As this is a totally different genre for me, I wanted to experiment with 'going it alone'. It has been hard work, but ultimately rewarding.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?
A: I have read very few crime books, so I don't have a favourite - I prefer classics. I am a big reader of Anthony Trollope and Mrs Gaskell.

The Last American Martyr - Tom Winton

Q-1  I think that most e-readers today, no matter where they live, are feeling the financial squeeze.  Folks like that are bound to feel empathy and sympathy for Thomas Soles--the MC in my new Kindle, The Last American Martyr.  After all, who doesn’t love to root for a likeable underdog who must do battle with an evil Goliath?
Q-2  After my debut novel, Beyond Nostalgia, had ten, yes TEN agents look at all or part of my manuscript last July, every one of those gatekeepers shot it down.  Since then, Tim at Night Publishing has put BN out, and it has been on four Amazon best-seller lists at the same time.  I presently have one NY agent perusing the entire manuscript of The Last American Martyr right now, but I expect more of the same.  Lucky for writers like me we have the Indie option.
Q-3  My favorite authors are Jim Harrison, Steinbeck, and Pat Conroy.  I recently read and was impressed by a biography written by a new author named Doug Anderson.  I look forward to reading his next work.  Oh yeah, ladies...I also like Joyce Carole Oats!

Get Lenin - Robert Craven

Book Title - Get Lenin

Author Robert Craven

ISBN: 1461194016

Price - paperback (US) $11.99 / Kindle (US) $1.16 & 99c in some stores. Kindle (UK) £0.86

links / Websites:

1) - I think e-readers will like this book for the adventure - its set on the Russian front in 1941 with The Third Reich attempting to hi-jack Lenin's mausoleum en-route to the Urals. I thought it would make a good page-turner; the sort of book you'd buy before you check in & waiting for the boarding call. I wanted to create a story that when stacked up against the insanity of the Third Reich seemed plausible and tried to write it as a piece of reportage. But mostly I wanted to write an entertaining piece of historical pulp.

2) - I'm published by Night Publishing, a UK small-press; the benefits being that I can keep my own style and story closer to non-commercial requirements. I get to keep my 'voice' in other words.

3) - Fredrick Forsyth, Alaistair Maclean, Ian Fleming, Jack Higgins, Gerald Seymor, Tom Clancy and not forgetting John Le Carre either!

Soliloquies: the lady doth indeed protest - chris wind

Bio:
Wind has published one previous collection, Paintings and Sculptures (Ginninderra Press, 2005), and has had poetry published in several journals, including Alpha, The Antigonish Review, Ariel, Atlantis, Bite, Bogg, Canadian Author and Bookman,  Contemporary Verse 2, grain, The New Quarterly, Poetry Toronto, Prism International, Rampike, Shard, The University of Toronto Review, The Wascana Review, and Whetstone, as well as three anthologies (Clever Cats, ed. Ann Dubras; Going for Coffee, ed. Tom Wayman; Visions of Poesy, ed. Dennis Gould).  She has been awarded thirteen Ontario Arts Council grants for her writing. Further information about the poet is available at her website, www.chriswind.net.

Product description:
Lady MacBeth kill herself? Please. And Portia—you don’t think someone that intelligent would be pissed to be bait and trophy? And Juliet, well, Juliet just wants to have—sex..

Soliloquies: the lady doth indeed protest, by poet chris wind, is a collection of soliloquies delivered by Juliet, Ophelia, Lady MacBeth, Portia, Kate, Desdemona, Regan, Isabella, Marina, Miranda – protesting the role given to them by Shakespeare.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?

Exquisite poetry.  Fresh audition pieces. Feminist analysis of Shakespeare.

Q: Why did you go indie?
This collection is perfect for ebook only format because of its length.  No established publisher would consider it, for that reason.  Even though the pieces have, in fact, been performed.  (Most recently at Venus Theatre in Laurel, Maryland.)
And I wanted a quick way to get these in the hands of actresses everywhere!

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?
T.S.Eliot, Adrienne Rich, Leonard Cohen, Dorothy Livesay, Sylvia Plath.
Oh, and maybe Shakespeare.

Crimson Soul - Timothy McCaughan

Bio:

Timothy Cody McCaughan was born in Delaware, where he lived his first twenty-three years. He enjoys video games, movies, and X-23 comic books--kind of a geek, but that's alright, because he works in the video game industry; and let's face it, that type tends to fit in. He currently resides in Seattle, Washington.

Product description:

Each generation shall see a Bell Maiden chosen. Aided by her Bell Servant, they are to close the Bell Gate before Hell is released on Earth. Enter Crimson Harper and Melissa O'Shea--the latest Bell Maiden and Bell Servant in a lineage that stretches back hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years. They know how to find the Bell Gate; they know what must be done once they find it; but nothing could have prepared them for the horrors that await them on their journey. Every purpose has a goal. Every journey has a destination. And with courage and loyalty, Crimson and Melissa will learn that "happily ever after" is in the eye of the beholder.

The first in a series, Crimson Soul is a young adult supernatural horror novel of over 71,000 words.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?

I think readers will enjoy the contrasts between the two protagonists, Crimson and Melissa, and the quirky, sometimes peculiar sense of humor they bring to an otherwise morbid situation. There's also a healthy amount of mind tripping that will have readers questioning what is real and what is not.

Q: Why did you go indie?

There's no denying e-books are a totally viable, insanely rapidly growing market. If you have yourself a good editor and the spare time to market, it's the perfect solution for someone who wants to be an author while also working a day job.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?

I would of course be remiss if I did not pay sufficient homage to the master Stephen King.

Ruin - N.M. Martinez

Bio: I can find the story in nothing more than a glance shared between two people-- though it's always debatable how much I'm making up. I love chocolate, Atari, and cheeseburgers, though definitely not at the same time.

Product description:
Paula has grown up in the Neutral Territory and has never known a time without the neighboring Wildlands as a threat. Her government does what it can to protect her people, but they still live in fear. Then her mother is arrested and Paula is banished to the Wildlands. Now she must make a new life for herself in a territory of people she knows will not be welcoming.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book? It's a very straight forward read, perfect for ereading, but there are a lot of layers to the story and the characters that will hopefully make for good discussion.

Q: Why did you go indie? I never wanted to be published by a large company. It's my story presented the exactly way I want to present it directly to the readers.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre? Isaac Asimov, always. He wrote enough that whatever genre I am, I'm sure that, technically, I could claim him to be in it.

Love Me - Danger_Slater

Bio:

DANGER_SLATER is the world’s most flammable writer! His work has appeared in several online magazines, offline anthologies, audio podcasts, porn dialogue voice-over sessions, dirty limerick collections, fortune cookie factories, websites featuring humorous misspelled tattoos, remedial English workshops, confusing furniture assembly instructions, police affidavits, losing presidential hopefuls' concession speeches, neon bar-front beer advertisements, cereal box ingredient lists and miniature golfing scorecards. Danger_Slater is also extremely toxic, so it is advised that you do not approach him unless you’re wearing a Level A hazmat suit or have had some sort of wizard cast a spell of protection on you.

Product description:

Do you like tales of Cold War espionage? Taut psychological thrillers? Science fiction as a metaphor for U.S. foreign policy? How about cute angst-filled teenage vampire toyboys?

Well, too bad. None of those things are in this book.

Instead you’ll join a guy in a Viking suit on an absurdly epic quest to figure out the meaning of life. There will be obstacles, of course: rabid gangs of disgruntled grannies, rival cults of pie-enthusiasts, toasters, anti-matter conversion do-hickeys, Shadow Men, bandits, hippies, annoying celestial bodies, the Department of Internationally Sexy Affairs, and probably way too many dick jokes for this book to ever be considered for any serious academic curriculum. You know, the usual.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?

Love Me is the touching journey of a guy who lives in a castle made of human skulls, on an epic, existential quest to figure out the mysteries of life. It is clearly a book for our times. Also, it’s funny as hell.

Q: Why did you go indie?

Why not? The work coming out of the indie world is much more exciting and the community is much more engaging.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?

Carlton Mellick III, Mike Sweeney

The Good Father - James Schubring

Bio: James Schubring, a native of Montana, graduated from Harvard with a degree in English literature, but he’s always loved mysteries and tales of suspense. The Good Father is his first novel. You can read more about him at JamesSchubring.com.

Product description: Philipp Reisen, a bystander to a series of explosions and fires, struggles to save his two young children from the men who caused the fires and the federal and military responders who make things even worse. For fans of John Hart, Michael Connelly, and Dennis Lehane.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?

I took out everything that annoyed me about thrillers I see on the bookshelves. I stuck with the perspective of my main character. I put him into the worst situation I could imagine and kept making things worse for him. I made sure to keep things moving at a fast pace. I felt no pressure to pad my story with an unnecessary hundred or two hundred pages to make a publisher happy.

Q: Why did you go indie?
A storyteller should always try to get as close to his audience as he possibly can.  I love that I can shave months or years out of the publishing process.  That people who read my story can send me an email to tell me what they thought, good or bad.  Sure it’s all electrons, not paper, but the best stories used to be told around a camp fire.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?
I love John le Carre for his writing and his characters (he’s inspired me to write a spy novel one of these days).  I love John Hart for the depth he goes into examining why his characters do the things they do.  I love Dennis Lehane for Mystic River, the most heart-breaking piece of crime fiction I’ve read in some time.  My favorite recent novel is Robert Harris’ The Ghost, the best achievement in storytelling I can think of.

The Gamble of the Godless - Dave Maine

The Gamble of the Godless by Dave Maine

Description:

Avin del Bors has a problem. His brother Drew has run off to fight in a war against the wolves, even though the wolves weren’t responsible for the vicious attack against the humans on the Free Plains. Avin’s companions—the warrior Ax, one-armed sorcerer Jocen, plucky owl Ulkia, drug-addled cheetah Summon the Wind and raccoon stand-up comic Onesso—all have their own reasons for accompanying him through the animal territories across the Bladebone Mountains. Their travels will take them from the highly regimented wolf cities, to the richesse and luxury of the Equine Commonwealth, all the way to the vertiginous tunnels of the serpents’ underground Net and across the waters of the Autonomous Dolphin Collective—to whatever unknown awaits them.

What e-readers will love:

Fans of epic fantasy will get lost in The Gamble of the Godless. Featuring a highly-detailed alternate world—without a vampire, werewolf or elf in sight—Maine’s creation is utterly believable and entirely new. Maine’s effortless writing goes down easy, and readers will immerse themselves in a world that they’ll be reluctant to leave.

Why did you go indie?

After four successful literary novels, I wanted to move in a different direction—to go back to my roots. The publishing industry is a bit supicious of such leapfrogging; they like people to establish themselves, then stay put. That’s not my style. I’m less Brittany Spears and more Neil Young, so I decided to go indie and ignore the expectations.

Who are your favorite authors in your genre?

For old-school stuff, I love ERB, Lin Carter’s Callisto books, Paul O. Williams, Melanie Rawn, Katherine Kurtz. Tolkein of course, goes without saying. Terry Brooks is unfairly cast as a Tolkein clone sometimes, but we’re all Tolkein clones on some level. Nowadays, I’m fond of KJ Parker, Kate Elliot, George RR Martin—although his stories are a fair bit bleaker than mine. I try to remember that, ultimately, we’re all trying to have fun here.

Bio:

DAVE MAINE aka DAVID MAINE is the acclaimed author of The Preservationist, Fallen, The Book of Samson and Monster, 1959. With The Gamble of the Godless, Dave returns to the epic fantasy genre that he grew up reading and loving. Hop aboard now, as there are plenty more adventures for Avin and his comrades in future volumes.

Hang On - Neil Gavin

Bio
I was raised in Chicago, and lived in Texas for a number of years. I now live in Tulsa, OK. I'm married with two sons, two dogs and a cat.

Description

In 1973 “crazy” Holly unexpectedly falls in love with Trevor, a roadie for a famous English rock band. From the moment they meet, dreams of marriage, children, and a normal life are suddenly – finally – within Holly’s grasp.

Trevor takes her with him on tour and introduces her to the very “un-normal” backstage world of Rock and Roll. When she walks onto the band bus, she becomes part of a colorful, exciting adventure in a world completely different from the life that awaits her back home, where she chases cockroaches with a shoe, works at a low-paying job, and sleeps to escape the hunger.

Unfortunately, Holly has a secret. Plagued by panic attacks, periodic rages, and depression, she needs to learn why her mentally ill mother committed suicide, long ago, so she can save herself. Thus far, she has found no answers. She must conceal her symptoms from Trevor in order to keep him, but as their relationship becomes progressively more serious, her illness becomes increasingly more difficult to hide.

This sly and darkly humorous novel won the silver medal in the Living Now Book Awards under its original title, ALL TORC’D UP.

Caution: Some strong language.

------------------------------

Readers will enjoy going backstage at 1970s rock concerts, and joining the roadies on the band bus. They will also enjoy connecting with Holly, who makes her journey and her challenges accessible and moving. Like many people who grapple with mental illness and live their lives on the edge, she can make you laugh with her droll observations, and then cry without pausing.

I became an indie because I like to control my own work. My first book, THREADS: THE REINCARNATION OF ANNE BOLEYN, was picked up by a publisher and categorized incorrectly, which was my first warning that perhaps I'm better off doing things myself. I like the freedom of being able to write what I want to write, without worrying about deadlines or demands. I also like the indie community. I honestly don't know what it would take to persuade me to go with a traditional publisher.

My favorite book would have to be Harper Lee's TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. I also love A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN, by Betty Smith. I prefer character studies that give you something to think about, and a chance to learn something.

Geoffrey Breedon

Title: The Wizard of Time (Book 1)

After a childhood spent whizzing through the galaxy in super sleek starships and defeating treacherously evil monsters in long forgotten kingdoms, I grew up to write science fiction and fantasy novels.  I live with my wife in Brooklyn, NY.

Product description:

Plucked from the timeline of history at the moment of his death, Gabriel becomes an apprentice time mage and part of an elite team of wizards who travel throughout history to fight the War of Time and Magic.

Victorian London, the Aztec temples of 1487, the Greek island of Samos in 320 BCE, Scotland in the Middle Ages, and the battle fields of Alexander the Great are only some of the adventures in time that await Gabriel  as he learns to become a time mage and joins the battle to protect the timeline of history in THE WIZARD OF TIME.

THE WIZARD OF TIME is approximately 101,000 words long.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?
What's not to like about time travel and magic?

Q: Why did you go indie?
It seemed the like the best way to actively work toward my goal of writing for a living. There is no point in having three novels sitting around on the shelf. It makes more sense to be selling them and writing sequels. It's a lot of work, but so is traditional publishing. And it’s a lot of fun.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?
Robert Jordan, Peter F. Hamilton, Robert Heinlein, Tad Williams, David Gerrold, S.M. Sterling, Margaret Atwood, George R.R. Martin, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, J.K. Rowling. Susan Cooper, Bertrand R. Brinley, Clifford B. Hicks

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?

Wrath of the White Tigress is a tale of redemption, love, and betrayal. It’s about finding out that the world is not what you thought it was and reconciling yourself with that reality. Neither of the main characters is quite who they think they are. Jaska Bavadi spent the last twenty years enchanted into believing that all the horrible acts he committed for his mentor, Grandmaster Salahn, were noble and good. While Zyrella Anthari, last true priestess of the White Tigress, has a history she never would have imagined and a destiny beyond what she feared. How they both deal with these revelations is the crux of the story. Of course, they’re dealing with these personal crises while trying to stop Grandmaster Salahn, who is hellbent on opening the Gates to the Underworld and becoming a god by absorbing the power of the White Tigress.

Ultimately, Wrath of the White Tigress is a dark swords and sorcery tale full of fast-paced action. It’s about betrayal and the dark side of humanity, but there’s also love and a sense of hope that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Q: Why did you go indie?

I’ve had an agent and pursued the traditional publishing model, had some near hits and had the rug pulled out from under me. So now I’m doing things myself, albeit though Typing Cat Press, which I much prefer. I’m a “take matters into my own hands” kind of person and I don’t care much for jumping through others’ hoops. I come from a long line of quiet anti-establishment rebels. I should have known the traditional methods would never suit me. Obviously, having far better royalty rates doesn't hurt.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?

Michael Moorcock, above all others, for entertaining literary genius infused with metaphysics galore and matched to fast-paced tales of adventure. Elric of Melnibone and all the Eternal Champions have left me scarred, but in a good way, for many years now. Also: David Gemmell, Fritz Leiber, J.K. Rowling, Karl Edward Wagner, Robert E. Howard.

Night Journey - Goldie Browning

BIO
Goldie Browning’s twisted imagination and fascination with the paranormal began in early childhood with her grandmother’s ghost stories and her brother’s retelling of classic fairy tales, such as Snow White and the Seven Little Frankensteins and Cinderacula.
Her first and favorite job was as a secretary at a military mortuary in Germany, followed by more mundane employment which included being a newspaper reporter, a real estate agent, a substitute school teacher, and a legal secretary.  She finally settled down to a long career as a courtroom deputy clerk for two federal judges before retiring and getting to do what she wants to do when she grows up—be a writer.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:  NIGHT JOURNEY – a ghostly tale of past lives that intersect with the present

Q.  What will e-readers like about your book?
I believe e-readers will like my book because it is fast-paced, exciting, scary, and romantic, all rolled up in one.  Night Journey is set at a real hotel in Arkansas purported to be the most haunted hotel in America, and was once the cancer hospital owned by real-life bad guy, Dr. Norman Baker.  Night Journey is a thrilling ride through time and back as heroine Emma Fuller has an accident, dies and is revived, but is left comatose.  While she’s in her coma, her soul is transported to 1938 where the spirits she’d heard about on the ghost tour are now real live people.  You’ll be turning the pages of your Kindle to find out what happens next.

Q.  Why did you go indie?
I’m so glad I went Indie, but I fought it for a long time, thinking I had to be published by The Big Guys.  I paid my dues, querying and collecting rejections and discovered that Night Journey didn’t fit into any of their niches.  The Big Guys don’t have time for books that don’t fit into their niches.  I’d just about given up after congestive heart failure almost got me, followed by a chain of other severe family illnesses.  Trying to sell your writing takes a lot of energy and I didn’t have any.  But then one day, out of the blue, one of my friends opened his own publishing company and asked me if he could publish Night Journey.  I’m so happy he asked me.

Q.  Who are your favorite authors in your genre?  Lorelei Shannon, Erin Grady, Stephen King
